Vilnius Academy of Arts

In this project (wind(y)) I want to develop my own kind of artistic research about the wind, what is my relationship to it and what is its relationship to me, as well as what is technology's relationship to the wind and what is the wind's relationship to technology. The idea is to use different methods to measure the wind (e.g. anemometer, windsock), to look for wind-catching objects to make like wind organs, and to make my object mobile so that I can use it when I walk. I try to use the objects and materials around me, not to buy something specifically for this
project - I think about wind as a source of renewable energy, about the circular economy as a phenomenon in society.

This project was also developed during a collective field trip to Nida Art Colony for the course "Installation and Performativity" with the lecturer Dr. Vitalij Červiakov. During the trip we visited the Nida meteorological station of  Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service under the Ministry of Environment. In the future, I plan to visit the Vilnius Aviation Meteorological Station, to visit wind turbines, and other spaces directly related to capturing or measuring the wind.

The audio you are hearing is coming from wind organs - a self-made sound object from plastic bottles - and is recorded with audio recorder in the same sound object.
